Spring-the King of all seasons stepped into the Department of English at UITS in a royal manner on 13th February. On the very first day, the Department of English organized a grand and fitting ceremony which the Department termed ‘Get-Together’ to welcome this beautiful season at the University’s Auditorium Hall. The program was inaugurated by Dr.Arifatul Kibria, Dean, School of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences and Head, Department of English, Syeda Afsana Ferdousi. As Chief Guest and special guest honorable Vice Chancellor-Dr.Mohammad Solaiman and Advisor of Board of Trustees-Dr.K.M.Saiful Islam Khan along with Treasurer Dr.S.R Hilaly, Research Director Mohammad Farid Uddin Khan augmented the program by their gracious presence. The name Get-together has special connotation –it invites its alumni and provides a platform for teacher-student, fresher-alumni sharing and exchanging experiences and sometimes it just turns into a meeting place where the aura and flavor of friendly conversation strengthen the bond among them. The program is so colorful that the Auditorium Hall became the microcosm of spring landscape studded with multicolored flowers as students and teachers all wore vibrant color Sari and Punjabi. Female teachers and students wear flower band around their head and garland and some other ornaments also made of flowers which reflected traditional Bengali Culture. The Hall was not spared; it was in fact decorated with flowers, balloons’, flyers, and a big banner. Department’s students showed their multi-talent by singing, dancing, stand-up comedy, recitation, and an excellent parody of Bengali movie and a spring fashion show! With all its festivity and pervading spectacular phenomenon, all stakeholders namely teachers and students created a remarkable experience and an unforgettable memory for themselves as well as for the viewers. CSE & IT department Celebrate the Pohela Falgun.
Meanwhile the Department of CSE and IT also celebrated the Falgun. Dressed in traditional yellow outfits, the first day of Bengali month “Falgun” was celebrated with immense enthusiasm and arrangement this year. Whole department including faculties and students went in festive look throughout the day. Proctor Salauddin Hawlader, Head of CSE and IT department Joya Das and other faculty members were present to commemorate the day with the dearest students. The key attraction was musical performance arranged by students of the department. Temporary stalls were built by students signifying books of evolution and traditions of Bangladesh. In this way, the Pohela Falgun became the symbol of amalgamation of all races.
