The University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and South Korea with a noteworthy seminar centered on the strengthening relationship between them. The seminar, titled โ€œBangladesh-Korea Relations,โ€ was held on Thursday, 8th May, 2025 at the Ratnagarbha Tahmina Rahman Multipurpose Hall, UITS, and drew wide participation from across the university community.
The auspicious event welcomed His Excellency Park Young-sik, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Bangladesh, as the esteemed Chief Guest. Mr. Mohammed Mohsin, the Vice Chairman of PHP Family, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea, and a distinguished member of the UITS Board of Trustees, graced the occasion as the special guest, underscoring the significance of the bilateral partnership. Professor Dr. Md. Abu Hashan Bhuiyan, the esteemed Vice-Chancellor of UITS, delivered the welcome address, setting a positive tone for the insightful discussions that followed. The proceedings were skillfully moderated by the university’s Registrar, Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, ensuring a smooth and engaging flow of the program. The seminar commenced with a respectful recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the dignified playing of the National Anthems of both Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea, symbolizing the spirit of amity and collaboration between the two nations.
In his keynote address, Ambassador Park Young-sik eloquently spoke about the expanding avenues of cooperation between Bangladesh and Korea, particularly highlighting the growing collaborations in education, economy, and culture. He emphasized the mutual advantages stemming from this deepening partnership and expressed optimism for its continued growth. Following his address, Ambassador Park actively engaged in an interactive question-and-answer session with the enthusiastic audience, which included students and faculty members from various departments, addressing their inquiries on diverse aspects of the bilateral relationship and potential areas for future collaboration.
Earlier in the program, during his visit to UITS, Ambassador Park Young-sik delivered an insightful lecture specifically focusing on “Korea’s Economic Development & its Lessons.” This session offered valuable perspectives on Korea’s remarkable economic transformation and provided potential insights that could be relevant to Bangladesh’s own developmental aspirations.
The seminar witnessed significant participation from all levels of the university. Present at the event were the esteemed Treasurer, Controller of Examinations, Deans of the Faculties, Proctor, Heads of the Departments, and the Directors of various UITS units. The University management team was also actively involved, alongside numerous faculty members from diverse disciplines and a large number of enthusiastic students. The vibrant participation underscored the university’s collective interest in fostering international understanding and learning from global experiences. The engaging Q&A session following Ambassador Park’s lecture proved to be a highlight, facilitating a deeper understanding of Korea’s development journey and its potential applicability within the Bangladeshi context.
