University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS), the first IT-based private university in Bangladesh was founded on 7 August 2003 as a non-profit organization. INFORMATION SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION LTD. (ISTS), a concern of PHP group headed by Alhaj Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury is the sponsor of UITS.

An orientation program for the students of Department of Business Studies, Spring 2025, was held at the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS). The event took place on January 27, 2025, Monday at 10:00 AM, in the Ratnagarbha Tahmina Rahman Multipurpose Hall, with the initiative of the Department of Business Studies and the Business Club. Dr. Mahadi Hasan, Head of the Department of Business Studies, presided over the event. The chief guest was the Honourable Vice-Chancellor of the university Professor Dr. Md. Abu Hashan Bhuiyan, and the special guest was the Honourable Treasurer Prof. Dr. Siraj Uddin Ahmed.
The welcome speech was given by the esteemed Dean of the Business Faculty, Dr. Farooq Hossan. He mentioned that the purpose of coming to university is to gain knowledge and become a good person. He expressed his hope that after four years, the students would emerge as truly good individuals, and he welcomed them to the Department of Business Studies, thanking everyone present.
The Treasurer address that the students until now, they have studied under the guidance of their guardians, but now, in the university, they are their directors. The university would provide them with the freedom and proper direction to manage them. He welcomed the new students and also thanked the members of the Department of Business Studies and Business Club for organizing the event.
In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor stated that students should not limit themselves to academic knowledge but should also develop skills through extracurricular activities. He highlighted that the new students would lead the university in all aspects and urged them to become ethical, skilled, and ideal individuals.
It’s great to hear that the event also featured input from an alumni speaker, Syed Rafsan Hasan, who is currently a Manager (SPO) at BRAC Bank. His sharing experiences and insights can be inspiring for new students, as they get a glimpse of where their studies might take them.
Raida Binte Zaman and Joyeta Rafson, a current student, also likely added a fresh perspective from the student’s viewpoint. It’s always good for incoming students to hear from someone who is still going through the experience.
Lecturer Arif Hossain, from the Department of Business Studies, highlighted the overall structure of the BBA program and shared valuable insights on achieving academic excellence. His guidance must have been particularly useful in setting expectations and preparing students for a successful academic experience.
Dr. Mahadi Hasan, Head of the Department of Business Studies, presided over the event and concluded the program by delivering a vote of thanks. In his closing remarks, he extended his best wishes to the students of the BBA 59th Batch for a bright and successful future. He encouraged them to make the most of their time at the university, to grow both academically and personally, and to contribute positively to society. The event was facilitated by the students of the Department of Business Studies named as Ruponti. The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, performed by our student Kutub Uddin Nahid. The overall support for the event was provided by Conveyner of Orientation Program Committee Assistant Professor Ms. Rabaya Bosri, Member Secretary Lecturer Md. Serajum Monir and the member of the Orientation Program Committee Lecturer Arif Hossain and Lecturer Noor Hassan Mahmud Khan respectively. Finally, we want to extend our special thanks to the organizing committee for arranging such a program.
