University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS), the first IT-based private university in Bangladesh was founded on 7 August 2003 as a non-profit organization. INFORMATION SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION LTD. (ISTS), a concern of PHP group headed by Alhaj Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury is the sponsor of UITS.
UITS added the latest education system to its curriculum to developing the knowledge and skills of the students as well as integrated human values in the education system. As part of the international academic collaboration between the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) and Millersville University (USA), a meeting was held on April 30, 2025, at UITS, organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
The meeting commenced with a warm welcome extended to Professor Dr. Dan Kulmala, representing International Programs & Global Engagement at Millersville University, by Professor Dr. Farooq Hossan, Dean of the School of Business, UITS. The presence of key academic membersβincluding Professor Dr. Farooq Hossan; Dr. Mahadi Hasan, Head of the Department of Business Studies and Chair of the Program Self-Assessment Committee (PSAC); Ms. Rabaya Bosri, Assistant Professore; Mr. Arif Hossain, Lecturer in the Department of Business Studies; and representatives from the IQACβmade the meeting more engaging and productive through their active participation and valuable insights.
Professor Kulmala expressed his appreciation for the hospitality and introduced the objectives of his visit. During the session, he proposed several potential areas of collaboration, such as Student Exchange Programs, Faculty Exchange Programs, and Joint Short Courses.
The meeting also featured remarks from Dr. Mahadi Hasan, who welcomed Professor Kulmala and inquired about student scholarship opportunities and other forms of academic support.
Professor Kulmala highlighted various Master’s programs offered at Millersville University in the fields of Information Technology, Data Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Innovation. He emphasized the mutual benefits of academic collaboration between the two institutions, focusing on knowledge sharing, cultural exchange, and global academic exposure for both students and faculty.
Following the meeting, Professor Kulmala visited various facilities at UITS, including computer laboratories, academic departments, and classrooms, to better understand the universityβs academic environment. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening academic ties and exploring the proposed collaborative initiatives in the near future.
