University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS), the first IT-based private university in Bangladesh was founded on 7 August 2003 as a non-profit organization. INFORMATION SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION LTD. (ISTS), a concern of PHP group headed by Alhaj Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury is the sponsor of UITS.

On 18 April, 2024, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of University of Information Technology and Sciences organized a programming contest where numerous students from the Department of CSE and Department of IT participated. The contest lasting for 3 hours had 6 problems from categories like bitwise operation, graph theory, etc. The teams UITS_O(struggle), UITS_ACES and FullGlassEmpty() attained 1st, 2nd and 3rd position in the given order, each solving 6 out of 6 problems, the difference being there only due to the time required to solve the problems. UITS Computer Club provided the necessary support for the contest.
