University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS), the first IT-based private university in Bangladesh was founded on 7 August 2003 as a non-profit organization. INFORMATION SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION LTD. (ISTS), a concern of PHP group headed by Alhaj Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury is the sponsor of UITS.

Professor, Dr. Abu Hasan Bhuiyan, Research Director of UITS and former Dean and Professor of BUET and Dr. Supratip Ghose, Associate professor of CSE, UITS visited a workshop titled “Skills Development of ICT Engineers on IT Engineers Exam (ITEE) Targeting Japanese Market” on November 13 th , 2019 jointly hosted by Bangladesh IT-Engineers Examination center (BD-ITEC) under Bangladesh Computer Council and Bangladesh ICT division supported by Japan International Cooperation agency (JICA). The meeting was adressed by Mr. Junaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister, ICT division, as chief guest. Distinguished University Vice-Chancellors, Dean and Professors of several universities, Chairman and members, UGC, Minister and country representative, Embassy of Japan graced the occasion. The workshop emphasized the theme and necessities of “International Recognition of ICT Knowledge and Skills” for the Bangladeshi students. Every year in Bangladesh IT-Engineers examination center (BD-ITEC) supported by ITPEC holds ITEE exam in Bangladesh. Bangladesh became the member of ITPEC (IT Professional Examination Council) on 1st September. ITPEC coordinates all the efforts of member countries in the implementation of IT Engineers Skill standards and IT Engineers Examination in Asia. In his speech, Mr. Junaid Ahmed Palak addressed the need of emerging technologies and the visionary plan of Bangladesh Government for specialized lab, start-up program, and funding, learning-caring center to meet the demand of Global IT market. The speakers there addressed the need to integrate business model in the engineering curriculum. Finally, a discussion panel among stakeholders of ICT division, Bangladeshi companies in Japan and Professors, and faculties of several universities of Bangladesh concluded the workshop.
