University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS), the first IT-based private university in Bangladesh was founded on 7 August 2003 as a non-profit organization. INFORMATION SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION LTD. (ISTS), a concern of PHP group headed by Alhaj Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury is the sponsor of UITS.
UITS added the latest education system to its curriculum to developing the knowledge and skills of the students as well as integrated human values in the education system. The University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) hosted a remarkable “Certificate and Prize Giving Ceremony” on December 15, 2023, at the UITS Conference Room, commemorating the outstanding achievements of participants in the “Smart Bangladesh Day 2023 ICT Quiz Contest” and “Smart Bangladesh Day 2023 Computer Programming Contest.” This online extravaganza, open to individual programmers from HSC/College and University levels nationwide, drew widespread interest, with over 500 registered participants showcasing their prowess on platforms like Toph and HackerRank.
The event exemplified UITS’s dedication to fostering innovation and excellence in information communication technology, serving as a platform for bright minds across Bangladesh. The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN), and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) collaboratively organized this initiative, reflecting a holistic approach to technological advancement in education.
The esteemed Chief Guest, Honorable Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abu Hashan Bhuiyan, and Special Guest Treasurer Professor Dr. Siraj Uddin Ahmed, added prestige to the occasion. Their presence underscored the significance of the event and its alignment with UITS’s commitment to advancing IT education. The ceremony unfolded with illuminating addresses by Professor Dr. Md. Ashraful Islam, Dean, Faculty of Science & Engineering, and Registrar Mohammad Kamrul Hasan and Al-Imtiaz, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of CSE. Engineer Md. Safaet Hossain, Director, IQAC, presided over the ceremony, contributing valuable insights into the transformative power of information technology.
Winners, having triumphed in the fiercely competitive contests, were celebrated for their exceptional talents and contributions to the fields of ICT and programming. In the “Smart Bangladesh Day 2023 ICT Quiz Contest (HSC Level),” Rayeed Zaman from Scholastica secured the coveted 1st position, followed by Taohid Islam from Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College at 2nd position, and Adib Zubaer from Govt.Syed Hatem Ali College, Barishal, clinching the 3rd position.
For the “Smart Bangladesh Day 2023 Programming Contest (HSC Level),” Md. Tofazzal Ahmed Sany from Jalalabad Cantonment Public School & College, Sylhet, emerged as the Champion, with Kazi Nadid Hossain from Notre Dame College, Dhaka, securing the 2nd position, and Asif Adnan from Notre Dame College claiming the 3rd position.
In the “Smart Bangladesh Day 2023 Programming Contest (University Level),” Md. Rony Mir from Patuakhali Science and Technology University secured the 1st position, followed by Md. Tazim Uddin from the same university in 2nd position, and Md. Shibly Rahman Alve from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology claiming the 3rd position.
These champions were not merely bestowed with certificates; they were also recipients of attractive prizes, symbolizing the tangible recognition of their dedication and proficiency in the dynamic fields of information technology and programming.
