The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) recently hosted a workshop titled “Enhancing Outcome-Based Education Through Active Teaching and Learning” held on December 28, 2024, at the ULAB Campus. The workshop focused on improving teaching methodologies and aligning them with Outcome-Based Education (OBE) principles. This initiative plays a vital role in strengthening our efforts toward achieving BAETE accreditation by enhancing faculty teaching practices and aligning them with industry standards, ultimately ensuring the delivery of high-quality education. Forty faculty members from ULAB, University of Information Technology & Sciences (UITS), South East University, and Primeasia University participated in the insightful workshop.
Resource persons included Professor Dr. Swakkhar Shatabda (Department of CSE, BRAC University), Professor Dr. Muhammad Golam Kibria (Department of CSE, ULAB), and Associate Professor Dr. Nafees Mansoor (Department of CSE, ULAB). Tailored for engineering faculty, the workshop covered key topics such as an introduction to IEB-BAETE accreditation, Bloom’s Taxonomy and learning domains, Course Outcomes (CO), Program Outcomes (PO), and CO-PO mapping, and active teaching and learning tools, including practical exercises for addressing real-world accreditation challenges. Throughout the session, various practical examples related to the OBE curriculum were shared to provide valuable insights for participants and their programs in preparing for the accreditation process. Participants included faculty members from UITS, such as Engineer Md. Safaet Hossain (Director IQAC and Associate Professor, Department of CSE), AL Imtiaz (Associate Professor & Head, Department of CSE), and Assistant Professor Md. Hasan Imam (Department of Civil Engineering). Additionally, Twenty-five faculty members from UITS, representing departments such as Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Information Technology (IT), Civil Engineering (CE), and Business Studies, also participated in the workshop. We extend our sincere gratitude to ULAB for organizing this insightful workshop.
