UITS prioritizes Faculty Development through Seminar on “Motivation and Importance of Research for Teachers”

On May 28th, 2024, the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) hosted a seminar titled “Motivation and Importance of Research for Teachers” at the UITS Conference Room. The event aimed to explore the value of research in faculty development, specifically focusing on its role in driving educational innovation. The keynote speaker of the seminar was honorable Vice Chancellor of UITS Professor Dr. Md. Abu Hashan Bhuiyan. Professor Dr. Siraj Uddin Ahmed (Treasurer), Professor A. N. M. Shareef (Controller of Examinations), Dr. Farooq Hossan (Dean, Faculty of Business), Syeda Afsana Ferdousi (Dean Faculty of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences) and Mohammad Kamrul Hasan (Registrar), was also present. Additionally, the Director of IQAC, Head of the Department of Business Studies, Law, English and Social Work graced the event. A total of 40 faculty members from these departments actively participated in the seminar.
In a compelling keynote, UITS Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Abu Hashan Bhuiyan underscored the transformative power of research collaboration in education. He detailed how joint research efforts bridge basic and applied studies to address societal needs. The talk spotlighted how research enriches educators by fostering new insights and honing analytical skills, while also learning from historical educational practices.
Prof. Dr. Md. Abu Hashan Bhuiyan outlined effective research traits—empirical, systematic, controlled, and hypothesis-driven—and presented collaboration opportunities through scholarships, inter-university partnerships, and industry ties. He highlighted the benefits of such alliances, including enhanced creativity, efficient learning, and access to broader research methods.
The seminar concluded with Prof. Dr. Md. Abu Hashan Bhuiyan advocating for collaborative research as a catalyst for innovation, high-impact publications, and the development of adept university faculty, thereby advancing educational excellence.
